Scott "NewGuy"
Plays: Keys, blues harp, tambourine, cowbell
Member of the band since: NYE 2002 - finally got rid of "New guy" status.
Influences: Randy Newman, Oscar Peterson, Gene Harris, T-Monk, Steely Dan, Bruce Hornsby, Gershwin.
Birthplace: Provo, UT
Home: Rancho Cucamonga, California
Family: Wife, kids, dog...truly American Pastoral.
Day Job: Saving Lives
Highest Degree Earned: Doctor of Jazzography
Brush With the Stars: Bumped into Marie Osmond at Chucky Cheese, backed up Chuck Berry (see blog on homepage), in side-band for Sinbad Show, token white guy in Salt Lake City's best funk/dance band ("B not E"), stalked Randy Neumann for a while.
Funniest Whoz Playing? Experience: Watching Tom at every gig deal with "Guy" dropping A on him.
When I'm not Living and Breathing Whoz Playing I: breathe, grow stuff, woodwork (lathe), camp, hang out with the kids and dog.
Turn ons: The "flow" experience that comes in the perfect jam session, a good book (anything by Christopher Moore, Salmon Rushdie or Jonathan Safran Foer)...the long slender curve of my wife's neck.
Gear: electronic thingies that make noise (Alesis QS and Korg Triton)...but would take an acoustic Yamaha or Steinway grand over these any day.
